Do You Need Acute Lower Back Pain Treatment? 2 Remedies to Try

Have you ever had to groan "Ouch, my back!" because your back is hurting you bad? Have you ever had to call in sick because of the unbearable pain? Fortunately for you, most acute lower back pain can be treated without surgery. Even better, there are many treatments that you can try. Whichever form of treatment you pick, however, make sure that it's one that does all four of these: get rid of the inflammation, restore your former mobility, strengthen your back, and help you prevent similar injuries from happening in the future.

It is estimated that one in every 10 people suffer aches and twinges in their backs at some point in their lives. If you're one of them, and your problem is not just pain of any kind but acute lower back pain, you can try the following remedies.

Bed Rest

Resting for a few days can help, but the operative word here is a few days. Any longer than that and you won't be doing your body any favors. You see, bed rest is only good for the first day or two of the injury - if it's an injury that's causing the pain. However, prolonged bed rest can weaken your back, worsen the pain, reduce your flexibility or even mobility, or worse, lead to secondary complications ranging from depression to blood clotting in the legs!

Exercise

So you're probably thinking, "What? Exercise? That's madness! I'm writhing in pain!" But yes, believe it or not, exercise can help. As a matter of fact, exercise helps in two ways. First, it helps you prevent injuries by strengthening your back. Second, it forces your muscles to move, thus speeding up your recovery.

Of course, not all exercises are good for you, especially if you are already suffering acute lower back pain. So, before you even try to move anything, check with your doctor first.
