How You Can Treat Lower Back Pain With Vitamins

From a certain age on we all know what is is like to experience some lower back pain. As we get older and realize that our bodies just don't work the way they used to twenty years ago, stretching and working out more is almost a requirement for keeping our backs in shape. The simple little twist can turn into instant lower back pain without warning. Then we are everywhere trying everything we can to get rid of it, as it becomes a daily irritation. Oddly enough, many of us don't even think about treating back pain with vitamins.

While we slowly move towards a more "natural alternative" way in the medicine world, vitamins in this area are usually overshadowed by herbal treatments and the FDA telling us that nothing of the sort is recommended. So instead, most of us go to a chiropractor spending hundreds of dollars instead of trying something new that might even have better benefits in the end. Then again, everyone wants the "quick fix" and don't believe vitamins can provide that for them.

Well, they're right, it's not going to fix anything right this instant, but at the same time, if you start taking vitamins like Vitamin E and Vitamin C now and each day, they can both be used to help reduce inflammation. Vitamin B12 has been placed in clinical studies with volunteers who were suffering from back pain in the lower extremities, later proving that B12 is a great pain reliever for individuals dealing with issues such as these. These are only a few of several vitamins that can help with your back if taken regularly.

Vitamin D deficiency is considered one of the major reasons people end up with back pain, especially in the lower regions. A study was performed on 360 men and women, where they were given ample doses of Vitamin D over a three month period. After the time had elapsed, everyone who initially was told they had low levels of Vitamin D within their blood (83% of them), were actually all ruled as normal levels again.

We could sit here and go down the list and explain all vitamins, but the idea here is to understand that as we age, it's even more important that we take five minutes or less out of our day to grab a glass of water and ingest the proper vitamins. Do keep in mind that you should consult your physician when taking a substantial amount of vitamins due to possible overdoses. For instance, Vitamin C would allow twice daily as Vitamin E should only be taken once.

Overall, there are several reasons why someone can have lower back pain and unfortunately there are not as many solutions. While vitamins can help other avenues such as good exercise, better diets, and chiropractic help can all alleviate possible future injuries and discomforts. However, I do understand that if you are already in severe chronic pain, the exercise won't be feasible at this point, but the rest should be started as soon as possible. It may take longer to recover, but the long term benefits are the overall goal.
